Whew, can you believe your wedding day is only 6 months away? You deserve a pat on the back for making it this far! In a few months, you and your better half will finally be married. We know this is a once-in-a-lifetime occasion that both of you are looking forward to. This celebration of love should be all that you want it to be.
In this article, we talk about the must-dos 6 months out from your big day. Check them out below!
-
Hire your musicians (ceremony and reception)
Having personal musicians on your wedding day makes it more intimate and adds a unique flair to your event. You can choose to have instrumentalists and a full band to grace your celebration. Choose based on your musical style and personality. We suggest creating a playlist of your most favorite songs and you can ask them to play these at your wedding. This is great for your first dance as well as entertainment for your guests while dinner is served.
-
Get your transportation and hotel bookings in order.
You need space to prepare for your wedding. We suggest booking a hotel or BnB near the venue to avoid traffic and any unnecessary bumps on your special day. As much as possible, make this day as stress-free as you can. Another consideration is your transportation. You can be as lavish as you can by choosing a luxury car, renting a carriage, or a Harley motorcycle. On the other hand, you can be as simple as you want by driving yourself to you the venue or walking there if it’s near enough!
-
Schedule your engagement shoot
There’s really nothing quite like having a set of photos to immortalize precious moments. An engagement shoot is precisely this. We also highly recommend having one with your chosen photographer or team so that you’ll be more comfortable with them on the day of your wedding. Plan this with them and make the most out of this shoot! You can show these on your reception as a slideshow as well.
-
Lighting and sounds
Many couples fail to remember how important lights and sounds are during the reception. Please make sure that you and your wedding planner coordinate with the venue and stylists regarding the need for lights. You wouldn’t want a poorly lit space during your celebration. Sounds are just as important. You wouldn’t want a crappy speaker for your musicians nor would you want poor quality sounds to spoil your fun on the dancefloor, too!
-
Get your legal documents in order
Sometimes we get all wrapped up in the busyness of planning that we forget that a wedding needs a proper license to be legalized! Before you continue with the rest of the list, make sure you get a schedule in your city or province to get your license in order. Especially in the time of COVID 19, there are specific rules to follow so study them well and get your requirements ready for a seamless transaction.
-
Schedule suit fittings for your groom and groomsmen
We mentioned in our 9-month list about bridesmaids’ dresses and groomsmen suits but at the 6-month mark, you need to focus on the men. Since the ladies have theirs in order, make sure your groom and groomsmen get fitted in their new suits or rentals by this time. The color should match the motif and they should look just as dapper as polished as the beautiful bridesmaids.
-
Buy your wedding bands
Get your significant other can canvass around for your wedding bands. Remember that you’ll be wearing this “til death do us part.” So we suggest getting classics that suit your personality. No matter what, these should signify your love and marriage. Pieces that you’ll grow old with and might even pass down to future generations, invest in these rings, you will not regret it!
-
Talk to your florist about your wedding bouquets and boutonnieres
Florists go hand in hand with stylists. Sometimes you can get a stylist that carries floral services as well. Aside from flowers for your venue, you should finalize the design for the bridal bouquet, bridesmaids’ blooms, and men’s boutonnieres. They should pair beautifully with each other and complement the floral design of the venue as well.
PRO TIP:
Meet your florist and stylist together so that you can properly coordinate your vision with them. They can work side by side to get the look you want for the space of your choosing. This is also a great way for you to talk about bouquet and boutonniere designs that will complement each other and your overall aesthetic.
It’s almost crunch time, couples! Get these things done so you can check them off of your list as soon as you can. Best of luck!
